Carol Casey

Carol Casey has been writing poetry since age 13 and never completely stopped, even  though work, family responsibilities and general life calamities often and persistently took precedence over poetry promotion.  Writing poetry has been a mainstay throughout her life, empowering and grounding her through many ups and downs. Carol Casey studied Adult Education (ADED) at Brock University and studied Gerontology at Laurentian University. Carol is retired from nursing, and now identifies as a poet with adult education skills.

In 2005 she joined the Huron Poetry Collective, and remains an active participant.
She has given numerous readings and her poetry has appeared in two chapbooks by the Huron Poetry Collective, " No Corners to Hide"," and "The Language of Dew and Sunsets; and in periodicals such as " The Leaf", " Toward the Light" and " Tickled by Thunder".

In 2017 Carol Casey was accepted as an associated member to the League of Canadian Poets.  Her work has been twice nominated for the Pushcart Prize and has appeared in Pinhole Poetry, The Prairie Journal, Please See Me< Front Porch Review, Blue Unicorn, and others, including a number of anthologies " Stones Beneath the Surface ( Black Mallard" and the " Up your Ars Poetica Anthology (Peter and Driscol).

Her first collection of poetry, "What Can Happen: Family and Other Raptures of Imperfection" is available through Amazon. The theme that binds this book together is that of connection- to family, from ancestors to descendants; to nature;and to ideas.  It is an exploration of the wefts and warps that hold the tapestry of a human life together.  Each poem about  the author's personal experience or recollection is coupled with a reflective piece meant to deepen, lend insight or simply provide some counterpoint.
