Carol McDonnell: Mixed Media

Moving to Huron County with husband Jerry and their four children, Carol has experienced both rural and urban life in this county. She has been inspired in her art by terrain, family and animals, both here and in her travels.

As a teacher specializing in art, drama, and music, Carol was always sketching and painting. Naturally in retirement, these interests would be expanded! Playing the harp and practising various art activities have made the years fly by.

Classes with the the University of Western Ontario, the Halliburton School of the Arts, The Southampton School of Art, The Goderich Art Club, Elizabeth and other local artists, and visiting many galleries have helped to enlarge Carol’s range of experience.

Early work with photography and rug hooking taught McDonnell much about light and composition. Lately Carol has settled on water mixable oils and pastels as her media of choice.

Exhibiting in restaurants, a hospital and the Blyth Festival Art Gallery’s Community Show  keeps McDonnell busy. She is proud to be along with husband Jerry, a long time member of the Goderich Co-op Gallery, and the Blyth Festival Art Gallery.
