Media Preferences: Acrylics & PhotographyA teaching career allowed Carol plenty of creative scope in music , art and drama, while retirement has allowed time to further explore first photography, then rug hooking as art, printmaking, pastels, and painting in oil and acrylic. But photography was the beginning of the exploration of our shifting seasons, and interesting shapes , light and shadows - and composition. Trips with fellow Co-op member and husband Jerry to various parts of our magnificent county and country, as well as to other parts of the world have proved inspiring artistically. Turkey, Tunisia ,Portugal, Italy and many times to France , and exploring the Canadian Rockies have been the most recent itineraries of this couple. Carol studied at the Haliburton School for the Arts and the Southhampton Art School, and has taken many private classes to further explore photography, rug hooking, painting and print making. She has found photography to be instrumental in developing skills in other arts . So too these have helped in extending the development of her photographic skills.. Her photos have won Donnely and Murphy’s Viewer’s Choice Award in the Co-op in 2002, the Overall prize at the last Huron County Tourism photography competition and first prize in the digital category of the Hensall by Design Show of 2009. Carol’s work has been shown in Toronto, Stratford Blyth, Hensall, and Goderich. Her work is found in private and corporate collections across Canada and the United States. She is a proud member of the Blyth Festival Art Gallery and the Goderich Co-op Gallery.
